The story

Not everyone finds their way to Villa Ajoré. And that is how it should be.

In the south of Lanzarote, where the island narrows before surrendering to the Atlantic, a sleeping volcano rises above the sea. They call it Montaña Roja. At its feet, on a thousand square metres of volcanic land, stands a house that is in no hurry.

You wake, and the first thing you hear is nothing. Only the wind brushing the slope.

You walk down barefoot. The water still holds the warmth of the night and, in front of you, the ocean slowly catches light as Fuerteventura appears on the horizon.

Here, the day is measured in light, not hours. Clean in the morning. White at noon. And in the evening, when the mountain turns to fire, your glass somehow tastes different.

Then night falls. A sky you thought was lost, so close you can almost feel its weight.

You will leave. But something of you will stay.

Villa Ajoré. For the few. Forever.

The place — Montaña Roja

A volcano for a neighbour.

Montaña Roja is the last volcano in the south of Lanzarote before the sea. Its colour comes from the iron in the earth and changes with every hour: ochre at dawn, copper at noon, fire at sunset.

At its feet lies one of the quietest, most exclusive residential areas on the island: streets of villas, no traffic, no noise. A few minutes away, the Marina Rubicón harbour and the coves of Papagayo. Close enough to everything. Far enough from everyone.

Lanzarote is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Here the landscape is not decorated: it is respected.

The villa

Room to breathe.

Two hundred and fifty square metres of house on a thousand-square-metre plot. Light from every side, terraces facing the sea and the mountain, and a private pool open to the horizon.

Three bedrooms for six guests: a master suite with a double bed and two twin rooms, so everyone has a refuge of their own. An open living room, a fully equipped kitchen, air conditioning throughout and high-speed internet for anyone who, even here, cannot quite switch off.

No neighbours looking in. No schedules. Just the house, the water and the horizon.

The guest house

A silence of its own.

On the ground floor, with its own entrance and kitchen, an apartment for two. For grandparents who want to be close without being underfoot. For the friends who join halfway through the week. For someone travelling with a nanny. Or simply for whoever needs a space of their own.

Together, the villa and the guest house welcome up to eight guests. They are always booked exclusively: you will never share Villa Ajoré with strangers.

A day at Ajoré

The day is measured in light.

  1. 07:30

    Silence.

Coffee on the terrace. The volcano still in shadow, the sea starting to catch light.

  2. 09:00

    Water.

The first swim of the day, with no one else in the pool. With no one else anywhere.

  3. 11:00

    Papagayo.

Ten minutes along a dirt track and a cove of turquoise water between cliffs. Or stay put. That is an option too.

  4. 14:00

    Long table.

Catch of the day, wrinkled potatoes, a white from La Geria. Lunch lasts as long as it needs to.

  5. 17:00

    Nothing.

A lounger, a book, the wind.

  6. Sunset

    Fire.

Montaña Roja turns red. Time for a glass.

  7. Night

    Stars.

The lights go out and the sky fills up. You realise how long it has been since you looked up.
